Specification data

[NEEDS DATA: confirm current TDS revision]

Values from the published Terrazzino Specification sheet snapshot (no revision date). [NEEDS DATA: confirm current TDS revision and whether values apply to the Terrazzino layer or the complete system.]

At a glance

Compressive strength

10,500 psi

Stronger in compression than the concrete slab beneath it.

Tensile strength

6,300 psi

Resists being pulled apart under load.

Hardness

Shore D 82 (typical)

A hard, rigid wear surface.

VOC content

< 2 g/L

Very low off-gassing during and after installation.

Gloss

> 70 at 60°

A high-gloss finish at 60° sheen.

In context

How it compares

Reference figures for context, not a head-to-head lab test.

Comparison figures come from different documents and, for concrete, a different test method (ASTM C39 cylinders vs ASTM D695 for resins). They are indicative context, not a head-to-head test.

Compressive strengthASTM D695
Compressive strength comparison, in psi
Terrazzino10,500
Residential concrete (typical)2,500
Commercial concrete (typical, and higher)4,000
NTMA epoxy terrazzo resin — minimum10,000

Far stronger in compression than the concrete slab it sits on — the floor won't be the weak link under rolling loads or furniture.

Tensile strengthASTM D638
Tensile strength comparison, in psi
Terrazzino6,300
NTMA epoxy terrazzo resin — minimum3,000

Resists being pulled apart — about twice the minimum the terrazzo industry asks of its epoxy resins.

HardnessNot stated on source (NTMA uses ASTM D2240)
Hardness comparison, in Shore D
Terrazzino82
NTMA epoxy terrazzo resin — range60–85

A hard, rigid surface — near the top of the range specified for epoxy terrazzo resins.

Adhesion / bondElcometer (concrete failure, no delamination)
Adhesion / bond comparison, in psi
Terrazzino350
NTMA epoxy terrazzo bond strength300

Bonds more strongly than the concrete itself — in the test, the concrete broke before the coating let go.

Flexural strengthASTM D790

8,300 psi

Can flex under load without cracking (no NTMA minimum is published for flexural strength).

Everyday spills — water, mild cleaners, diluted acids — wipe up safely within hours. A few aggressive solvents, MEK among them, are rated A (not recommended) and should be kept off the floor entirely rather than just cleaned up quickly.

Cure schedule

Cure schedule at 70°F

  1. Pot life (1½ gal volume)

    15–25 minutes

  2. Tack free (dry to touch)

    4–6 hours

  3. Recoat or topcoat

    6–9 hours

  4. Light foot traffic

    12–24 hours

  5. Full cure (heavy traffic)

    2–5 days

You can walk on it the next day; full cure for heavy traffic takes 2–5 days.
